Come and visit
The Stable community café was created from an old outbuilding and opened in 2012. It is staffed by volunteers from the Church and Village. Fresh coffee, teas, home-made cakes and snacks are served, all at affordable prices. Wherever we can, we use Fairly traded products. Due to sensible use of freezer space and planning we have a zero food waste policy (even our coffee grounds often go to volunteers' gardens!).
In addition to food, we offer space for local artists to display and sell. Locally produced pottery, textiles, preserves, honey, apple juice and cards are also available.
We always give away our tips either to local causes or to projects in developing countries. Additionally we give away large sums from our profits each year. Since we opened in 2012 we have given away in the region of £14,000, all thanks to the generosity of our customers, bakers and volunteers!
Youth Café
During term time, at 7.30pm the doors of The Stable are opened specifically for 11-19 year olds. You are welcome to come and go (with parental permission where appropriate) as you would in any other cafe. We offer the same drinks as the daytime cafe, but at a reduced price, plus snacks and free squash! We open until 9.00pm (last hot drinks served at 8.45pm). There is free WiFi and a few games if you want to play, or you can just come along and enjoy!
